Profile
Founded in 2016, Jack Carter Architects is a London based design studio with an international experience and outlook. In 2022, Jack was joined by Julian gregson and Kevin Gray. Our combined experience of over 60 years allows us to work on a range of scales and different typologies including commercial, residential, cultural and leisure buildings. This diversity enriches the culture of the office; while each commission is different, our work is bound together by a common approach to quality, creative thinking and rigour. We do not have a house style; our work is a process of exploration, collaboration and dialogue.
We have considerable experience in working with historic buildings and in UNESCO World Heritage Sites and have demonstrated our ability to deliver confident buildings in sensitive locations.
As an emerging office, we promote an office culture where staff are supported to be inquisitive, thoughtful and serious. We want our staff to stay and grow and acknowledge the benefits of collaborative environment.
The practice is enriched externally with an outreach programme. We dedicate time to pioneering community-led projects. We host workshops with the Royal Academy attRAct programme, Kevin Gray is a unit tutor at The Bartlett School of Architecture and Jack Carter contributes regularly to Southwark’s Design Review Panel.
We are committed to tackling the climate emergency. The effect of architecture on the environment is significant and long term. We acknowledge what we do today shapes the environment for generations to come and are committed as a practice to delivering inspiring architecture with a positive social and environmental impact.
